Hooray Hooray The End Of May

I live in the Pacific Northwest and have lived here for many years.

Over that time I have gotten tired of the wet dark dreary drab rainy seasons — also known as winter. I did not mind the rain when I first moved here as I remember lots of sun breaks when I could take my dog for a walk.

Now neither my current dog nor I really wish to go out in the rain because it's just not pleasant. Maybe it's my memory, maybe it's the fact that I'm leaving and am looking forward to getting out of here, maybe it’s …. but the fact is that I have gotten very tired of the rain in the past few years.

Since I'm bitching about the weather I can also say I have gotten very tired of the heat waves in the summer and the dirty air that comes with the many wildfires.

There is always hope that records spring rains will keep the wildfires down but they haven't. We have had very wet winters followed by wildfires. There's only so much water that can be maintained in soil and given that we have been in drought conditions frequently a lot of the time the rain just washes down onto dry land and doesn't soak in.
