I Just Watched My 54th Super Bowl!
Yes — I’m a major football fan!
I never paid attention to football until, as an adult, I moved, and made new friends who loved the game. Every Sunday became a day to hang around, eat, drink, talk, and watch football. I really got into football! All those Sundays were fun and great learning experiences— and then 54 years ago, the Super Bowl arrived! Fun Sundays were extended!
Yes, I have a favorite team [it was the one where I lived when I got into football] but I like good games, no matter who is playing — unless my team is playing — and winning — and then a lop-sided game is fine…
I have many female friends, from way back those many years ago and from more recent years, who also love football — but we still get *those-looks [from males] if we talk football — and the absolutely *confounded-look when we know as much as they do — if not more…
*[women — you know what look I mean]
As much as I love football, I admit I was glad my son preferred basketball and baseball — but he, like me, watches a lot of football! Like mother; like son. He and I spend as much time talking about football [and baseball] as we do talking about politics.
There are several people I know who think I have wasted many brain cells watching football and other sports on TV. Not me. I think watching sports energizes those cells and neurons and pathways…creating even more space for more of my other stuff.
Here’s to Super Bowl 55, 56, and more…and the next world series, and, and…..
