My On and Off Relationship With Medium

it’s off again for now

If you read my writings on any sort of regular basis, you'll note that I don't write frequently and that I take months off. I took this past January off because I was getting tired of writing. I still wrote for myself and those “starts” are on my computer, but I didn't put anything up on Medium or elsewhere. I'm having a rethink about platforms and was/am still checking out a few.

The last time I ditched Medium, I didn't just have an off again relationship. I became a nonmember — it was overrun with bots and I kept telling them what was going on and was ignored so I just dropped my membership. I guess enough people did that and they got rid of the bots, but then they got the AI problem which I thought they were taking care of but they did that by basically not paying anybody from what I can see.

I've stopped reading what most people write, but from the few I still read — apparently, I am not the only one who had reads in January with a net income of zip.

No, I didn't write anything in January but the fact that I was getting reads and no money made me less likely to publish anything. I looked back through my data for the past few years and saw that even with that…
