hmmmm — good question

I’ve moved a lot! So many times that I have lost track.

Many moves were within the same city or metropolitan area, a few were cross country, and some were between sort of neighboring states [and D.C.] — phew!

I know how many states I have lived in, and how many houses I have owned, but the moves that involved apartments? Those are the ones I have lost track of.

So asking me where are you from often leads to interesting conversations.

For example, some of you know I moved last year. When I was in the parking lot of a major store, another person parked across from me and upon seeing my out-of-state plate, asked where I was from.

In my now usual answer, I said: “Originally, lately, or in between?” They burst out laughing and said: “Ditto!” It led to a fun conversation about where each of us had lived, the other had lived or visited, etc., and comparing past locations to where we are now.

I still sometimes feel like I never lived where I left. But I also don't feel like I live…
