After finishing my article about writing on the wall — I have been thinking about my relationship with words.

They have been part of my life since before I was born. My mother was an avid reader. My father was as well and also he worked for a major New York City newspaper. He was a photoengraver who brought home a copy of just about every New York City newspaper when he arrived from work. On top of those papers, our family got both a morning and an afternoon edition delivery of others.

Our house was filled with books. We had dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, world books, and more. I think my father had access to most of the almanac-type books at the newspaper because he was always bringing home books filled with facts to the point that I was [and am] a person filled with a lot of knowledge — a trivia expert.
