“You’re Maple People”

I was texting with a friend about maple sugar candy. Well — actually the conversation started about dried corn syrup as she had just bought junk food to eat, read the ingredients, and questioned what dried corn syrup even looked like.

I replied the only dried syrup I like is maple sugar candy and the conversation went on from there.

This is a friend that I text with a lot — and our conversations range widely on so many different topics that I always wind up laughing about most of them — even the ones that start off more seriously.

But back to maple syrup……and candy….

Though I grew up in New York City, my mother was from New England, and we spent a lot of time visiting her friends and family there — and because my father's family had New England roots as well when we went vacationing with family we went to Maine. Throughout that childhood I loved maple sugar candy. I remember getting it every time that we were at a store that sold some. I think we also had maple syrup in the house although given what was that modern culture I'm sure we also had…
